Abhishek Bachchan wants Farah Khan to make ‘Happy New Year’ sequel
After Happy New Year took the box office by storm, it only makes sense that all involved would want to capitalise on the success. Abhishek Bachchan, who played the role of the outrageous and alcoholic tapori Nandu Bhide in the film seems to be pressurising director Farah Khan to consider a sequel.
According to IBN Live, Bachchan said: “I think everybody is pressuring Farah because everybody wants to get back as a team to work again…we had a great time while filming.”
The star-studded ensemble cast, which included Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Abhishek Bachchan was praised by critics for their performances in the heist comedy.
However, a sequel is not in the pipeline at the moment. The actor added: “She [Farah Khan] said that she has to come up with a good story. Right now, she is on a long overdue break so we are letting her enjoy. Once she is back with her thinking hat, then we can pressurise her again.”
When asked about his experience of working with the successful female director, the Dostana actor gushed: “She is my favourite. I love what she stands for. I love her cinema. I love the way she makes the cinema. She believes in unabashed entertainment.”
Produced by Gauri Khan, Happy New Year is the story of a band of losers attempting to pull off a diamond heist by dancing their way to success and winning the hearts of millions.
